In the January issue of Practical Boat Owner,an inverter test was conducted. Most boat batteries provide a 12v DC source of power. The power supply at home is 230v AC. Therefore to power household items an inverter is need to convert the battery’s 12v DC power into 230v AC main power.

In the comprehensive test carried out by Practical Boat Owner, 16 inverters were put through their paces .

The test included inverters that had wattage output of 75 watts up to 1000 watts and a mixture of pure sinewave and modified sinewave.
